Folks, the now very much debated issue in Penang, the Kampung Buah Pala demolition fiasco enters a big twist in its drama series where now the the Penang Chief Minister blaming the residents of Kampung Buah Pala(KBP) as being greedy.
This was claimed after the failure by the people of KBP to accept a rather malicious agreement proposed by the State Government on behalf of the developer. Once the residents reject the offer of a double story houses, the CM, Lim Guan Eng has labeled the people as greedy. In fact he claimed in one of his press conferences that most of the Penang people has gone fed up with this ruckus standing of the KBP villagers of not accepting the deal and wanting for bigger compensation.
Is greedy what you think we are? Have you at least seen the given proposal of a double story houses by the state government? Go to Kampung Buah Pala, sit around with the residence there and ask them, what has gone wrong. We have a copy of the proposal there to be seen.
All what the people outside the KBP think is, the compensation is so good to refuse as it is expensive to purchase a property in Penang, and now a double story house is given for squatters. What a greedy people there.
Remember WE ARE NOT SQUATTERS !!!!! The land was robbed from us, and now we have to ask like a beggar for a house to stay from our own land. How ironic is this.
Look at the attached agreement from the developer Nusmetro. Read the paragraph 11 and 12 carefully. It says, if we sign this agreement :-
1. We have to vacate the land immediately
2. At the point of time when the developer wanted to build the compensation houses
(after completing their luxury condominium projects which is due at least 3 to 4
years) if the State Government or the Local City Council or any other party
rejects the compensation proposal, then no houses will be given to us as
compensation.
3. If we don't agree to this given offer by 7th August 12.00 p.m. hence this offer
is canceled or void automatically. The offer was given on the 4th of August and
only 3 days was given to push us to sign a bogus offer. We have 24 resident
houses with 65 families in KBP.
Is there any insurance for the people that the houses are for sure given despite any political conditions after 4 years? What if BN comes back to rule the state the next term? Look at point 2 above. We are not guaranteed for a house !!! If after 3 to 4 years when they apply for our compensation, if the State Government rejects, than that's it.
All these are in fact a drama played by Chief Minster of Penang, Lim Guan Eng. He does it as if he is giving the people an opportunity, but at the other hand the opportunity given is bogus, unacceptable. These conditions lead to the residents of KBP to reject the offer and made us look bad in the eyes of the public.
When you buy a house, you normally walk through the show unit to see through the house build-up and the designs. Then you sign the agreement to purchase a house, if you like them. In our case, all we saw was mere a layout plan without a show unit then we were expected to sign a housing contract that has no assurance of vacant possession in a short period of time, in a piece of paper that contains irrelevant housing agreement contract.
Now you tell me my dear friend, are the residence of Kampung Buah Pala greedy?
Residents of Kampung Buah Pala are greedy !!!!!
